20 PM (NEW!)
I newly installed a new hard disk. Windows2000 professional only recognizes it as 7.8 Gigbytes. The configuration is as below:
First master:
Hard disk one (6.4 Gigbytes, too small, so I bought another hard disk)
Partition 1 C: Windows me
Partition 2 D: windows 2000
First slave:
CD-Rom
Second master:
Philips CD-writer (I have to put it as a master because Nero only
recognizes the CD-writer when it is connected as a master)
Second slave:
The new hard disk (20 Gigbytes)
I partitioned the new hard disk into three parts: about 6-7 Gigbytes each. Window ME can detect all the three partitions, but Windows 2000 shows one partition with 7.8 Gigbytes.
I thought this problem only happens to Windows NT 4.0. Is there is patch to solve this problem without reconnecting all the wires? Thanks a million!!!
Additionally:
1) I am 100% positive that Windows ME recognizes all three partitions formated using FAT32.
2) Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3 (see more information about my BIOS below)
3) I used win2k's disk administrator and it shows only one unformatted 7.8 G partition no matter whether I formated the hard disk using fat32 or not.
One more information: I could fix this problem by do a clean installation of Win2K on the new hard disk. (I was successful in doing that but then uninstalled the new win2k) However, I have to reinstall many other things. I might also can do a disk to disk copy. However, I am hoping an easy solution.
Still need help. Thanks a lot.
