I'm looking at the Powershot website, it looks like the 5MP SD400 is the same size as those . . .

I found it for $380 . . .

 for Canon digicams. Canon A510 might fit your needs. 3.2MP, 4x optical zoom, SD memory, 2x AA.

man, did you miss a good sale. Just got my SD300 for $261 from Dell last week. the SD200 was $220.

on the other hand, the SD500 just came out, 7 MP.

Anyway, I love the SD300, it's great. I was using a Casio QV-R40 before this, the Canon is soo much better. the video mode is amazing.

good luck.

edit: just wanted to add that we usually use our cameras to take pictures of notes and stuff in class. the pictures taken with the SD300 is a lot more clear than my friend's Sony T1.

Ah that sucks for me :(

The Ex-Z40 took really grainy pictures at highest settings . . .

That's why I'm reluctant on getting the Ex-Z55, even though it's sub-$300, 2.5" Screen, and 5MP

You could probably use most of your accessories and the extra battery in your dead one.

Panasonic FX7. Sexy ass camera

That was going to be my next suggestion :)

I think the battery life and lack of optical viewfinder is probably why I'm not going to get that . . .

Since there's no viewfinder, you HAVE to use the big screen, and that sucks up battery life

I have the SD300... now I covet the SD500. I was pissed to see how much the SD300 went for.. after I bought it from dell.. I got it for about the same price but that was after a $100 credit. :(
