Still image monitor (win98)...

Does anyone know what exactly this program is/does? It was set to load on my comp in win98, but I used msconfig to turn the bad boy off and haven't yet noticed any adverse effects. Any ideas as to what exactly still image monitor (stimon) does? Thanks in advance

It is for use with a USB-connected scanner. If you don't have one . . . then uncheck it in Startup of System COnfiguration . . . you don't need it.
