Ok, so I am starting to get extremely frustrated. I am running the system in my rigs page (listed below) and I am getting considerable lag in UT2004, which I don't think should be happening. Originally I had 512 RAM but upgraded to a gig for the sake of gaming. It seemed to do the trick but now I seem to have some lag popping up again :| I run it with "application preference" for AA/AF so it isn't that. The game settings are almost all "normal" with I think only the world details set to high, so it's not asking for too much. When I alt-tab out of the game and check my free memory, theres still a couple hundered Megs of unused memory!! Also, the lag seems almost not noticable towards the beginning of a game but further along it gets a lot worse... It's the "looking around" controls that freeze up most often but sometimes it is also the movement, firing and even the audio! Something's wrong... So what's the problem!? I don't know what components of my computer to suspect or what to do to fix it. Please help me. Thanks you

I dont know if this will help or not buy you could make UT2k4 use more system RAM...

Find the UT2004.ini file in the system folder of UT2004. Make a back up of the file incase you srew if up or it gets worse. Open the UT3004.ini file into notepad. Find "CacheSizeMegs=32" you can then change that 32 to any amount that you want, I get mine ot 800 as a gerneral rule leave about 200MB of RAM for your system or the preformance wont work as well. This is usally made for improving loading times but I have noticed it also helps smooth out some of the lag problems at times.

hopefully this a bit of help:
http://www.tweakguides.com/UT2004_1.html

- esp. set audio driver to the UT default one (option is a bit confusing)

btw (soz to hijack a little), whats up with "ConfiguredInternetSpeed=" ? It says like 5000 for ISDN, and 6-8000 for ASDL. In Q3 engine game's I'd set rate to 7000 for my 64k ISDN, should I do that here or is 7000 != 7kps (roughly)

look for "render x amount of frames ahead", in your vid card properties. i had it set at 3 , and i had lag from movement. i would move the mouse, and short while later the screen would move. i set it to 0, and now wheni move my mouse, it instantly moves my screen.

also, turn off aa/af, even if you FPS out put shows it to be decent. i lag w/it on, even though my FPS is acceptable.

turn off shadows completely, its a fPS killer.

turn off preccacheing checkmark.

turn off mouse smoothing, turn off "reduce mouse lag delay", (?),

right click your desktop > properties > settings > advanced > geforce4 ti4200 (or wutever your video card name is) > direct 3d setting > more direct 3d... > render no more than x frames ahead
