I have a couple older computers that I hooked up to my 47" LCD TV with a 4850 VisionTek 512MB video card.
First I tried an AMD Sempron LE-1100 Sparta 1.9GHz Socket AM2 45W Single-Core Processor in a BIOSTAR MCP6P-M2 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 / nForce 430 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard w/ 2GB DDR2.
When I downloaded a divx movie it easily maxed out at 100% CPU usage and didn't play at all.
Next I tried a Foxconn motherboard with a 969 socket X2 overclocked to 2.5GHz and 2GB DDR. It maxed both cores at 100% but only did so at points of extreme video activity.
I'm wondering how one can build a HTPC and still run DivX movies which I believe are in an mp4 format. Do the ION based motherboards have chips that uncompress these files?
Are mp4 files even relevant to HTPCs?
