Excellent deal! Jumped on it, thanks for the link. This is one of the first really hot deals I've seen here in a while. No need to PM, rebate, and smile at your neighbor to get the discounts!

This only works for PC2100 apparently. I tried ordering the PC2700 and got this message:

Sorry, you can't redeem this coupon code with the items you're purchasing. This coupon is only valid for Save $20 on popular 512MB upgrades.

I called and they confirmed the PC2700 doesn't work with the coupon. I'm happy with PC2100 though.

Can the ppl who got this ram tell me if it will work at 166 fsb and at wat timings? I am thinking maybe I made a mistake and should've purchased some more 2700 ram instead. Thanks

My order shows a status of 'In Progress' on their web site. I just called and they told me it shipped today. I guess it takes a while for the site to update the status.

Got one this morning around 10 PST, so the deal's still alive. Just got an email now saying it's backordered but it should ship in 7-10 days.

I ordered 2 sticks on Sunday and they have both shipped out.

A gig of RAM for roughly 110 bucks is a great deal, especially for Crucial.

Edit: (Watch, in two weeks everyone will think this deal is a rip off when 512MB can be had for 15 bucks a stick :) )

If 512MB RAM goes to 15 bucks...I'll buy 10 sticks...hell I'll buy every one I can get my hands on :)

Just picked mine up-

Right now 2 sticks on a 147MHz bus- 2.0-2-2CL

Sweet. I don't think I can get my 1600+ any faster on my KS75A- Time for a new mobo. :)

Anyone know if I can pop this into a Dell Dimension 4550? (P4 2.4ghz, 533mhz FSB, which is currently using PC2700 ram.) What'll happen, will it not work, or worse yet, explode?

Thanks!

If you bump it down to PC2100 speed it will work great :)

If you overclock to 533FSB, no guarantee it will work. Probably will, but no guarantee :)

Im running 2-256 DDR 2100 = 512 and just ordered 1-512 more = out 1Gig of ram. Whats everyones thoughts upgrading 512K to 1Gig of ram in their PC? 1) Not much help 512K is more then enough or running 1Gig will rule in the long run or may very depending what you use your PC for? Just curious. :)

So if I pop this into the 4550 and run it at PC2100, does that mean the FSB is dropped to 400mhz for the processor, effectively underclocking it to a P4 1.8ghz?

so will going from 256mb -> 512mb on winxp pro with lotsa stuff running at the same time help reduce swapping? I have 256mb right now and although the performance monitor shows like 80mb free memory when i got lotsa stuff running, a fair amount of swapping still occurs... i also get out of virtual memory messages sometimes...

you will definately notice a difference with that 512meg stick. 512meg should be considered standard for most people, well to me anyway. windows 2000 and xp are really memory hungry. i currently have 512 in my machine, and it shows 188megs usage when i have only 1 IE window open in win2k. its taking 28megs by itself actually in memory. when i have all the programs i want running at the same time, physical memory available drops down to 49megs free. well, i ordered two of those crucial 512 sticks, so i know i will be putting that extra 1gig to good use. :)
