Did they ever get the problem figured out? Something to do with "shivering", I believe.

I'd like to know this too.

Last I heard, ATi had 'identified the problem and were busily working on a fix/patch'. It's been a while...

At rage3d they said that there is a fix but that they were still testing it. That was a month ago.

Radeon - great card, too bad its made by ATI...

The problem has been addressed in the upcoming driver release
which is now waiting for WHQL signoff from MS.

The skinny on all of this can be found
here.

Problems may still exists with very high resolution monitors capable of showing up things in power supply noise and cable mismatch.
High end (19" and 21") Viewsonics, Iiyama and Diamondtron monitors have to have very sharp text quality cards while Sony monitors
require an updated patch to get the last level of improvement.

Peak . . . no offense, but from what I understand the problem had nothing to do with 2D image quality and everything to do with the actual picture on the screen "shaking" or "shivering." All I see on your page is a text quality breakdown.

ATI is very close to a fix it would seem, I tested some files for them a few weeks back and it eliminated 99% of the shimmering. I believe they are just trying to work out a few more bugs in it before they officialy release it.

Cool, do you work for ATI Comp10? How did you get to test the fix? And 99% of it gone, wouldn't it be un-noticable? =)

No I don't work for ATI, someone who does work for ATI though got my email address off the forum at Rage3D and asked if I wanted to test the files. And yes, it's basicly completely unoticable after I installed the new files. If I get VERY close there is the slightest shimmer, but its much more uniform and it happens far less often than before. So I say 99% because its still there, just greatly improved. However it would seem some people who also tested the files didn't get as much improvement, so ATI is probably trying to get the fix to work for every monitor before they release it.
