Still a friend?

Hey I have a friend and we've been best friends since we met way back in first grade. It's now tenth grade and I feel like he becomes more and more detached from me and doesn't wanna be my friend anymore. I tell him to get some music and he does but that's it, he doesn't want to come over and design our game anymore and frankly doesn't give a $hit about me and my other friends. He's become a "bando" and only cares to hang out with other "bandos". So what do you guys think? Let's keep it friendly since last time I brought up my personal life I was labeled a freak. (Azzhole) Think I shouldn't talk to him anymore?

Let him go his own way. People change and there's nothing wrong with that.

(Couldn't answer your poll since "yes" or "no" can't answer the question as you phrased it.)

BTW I read your other thread, but didn't respond and this kinda covers both threads.

Dude, he doesn't wanna do pointless stuff. I really don't think you are getting anywhere on your game design. He probably would like for you to continue to be his friend, and he doesn't wanna hurt your feelings by pointing out how pointless the game design is.

It sounds to me like you are trying to be 30 years old when you have not yet hit 20.

Why not place the focus of your life on more simple things that the average guy is focusing on.

Work out, make your parents buy some equipment for you to build yourself with. Limit yourself to the computer to only 1-2 hours a day. Probably should watch more TV. Be more sociable at school- get phone numbers of new people (try to get some chicks numbers of course). See if you can hang out with them and just shoot the breeze. Soon you will have a car(if you don't have one already), and it will be a great liberator for you I'm sure. You'll be able to go places and do things with lots of other people. And you are going to want to have some people to draw upon to hang out with, so make some friends now!

i say let him do whatever for a while. if you keep talking to him and he wants to hang out with other people, you'll just make him mad or something. iouno

why don't you talk to him about it instead of us? try something like "It seems like we have been growing distant, and i wonder if perhaps you don't want to do your own thing, or still want to hang out?" try and find out why he is being distant. maybe he's just not interested in the same things. maybe you could find something else that you both like instead of the game?

People change, its a normal thing. Keep in touch on a very light level and let things be for awhile. Things will fall back into place.

Yeah people change, man. Let it go.

Yes and No don't fit the question as you phrased it.

<< He's become a "bando" and only cares to hang out with other "bandos". >>

Yeah, well, duh. I'm a musician and I hang out with other musicians. You probably hang out with other people who are into computers. Someone into racing dune buggies is bound to buddy up with another dune buggy racer. Think about what you're saying.

Well I remember him saying "Kam, if I ever become a bando, I want you to hit me on the side of the head" He's become one, now what? (Sorry about the poll and not getting back to you about a bando)

bando = band geek? never heard that. funny. I suggest you give him space. Remind him of what he said earlier:

<<"Kam, if I ever become a bando, I want you to hit me on the side of the head" >>

Try to make fun of him. Thats what high school is all about. Have fun. Ppl change.

10th grade means you are 15 or 16.
People and their interests change. I would talk to this person and learn whatis going on. You could try to share his interests too.

Be open and honest. Maybe you have both changed and just need to re-establish yourselves together. That happens sometimes, where you each drift apart waiting for the other to reach out... well someone has to reach out or you will just drift apart.

This has to be some of the worst advice I have ever read. First insult his hobby and tell him to act like everyone else, then tell him to watch more TV?
