any ideas on how to fix it? i let my little nephews play video games in my HT room and apparently one of their (or both, haha) hands was sticky and something got into the X button. it gets stuck if too much pressure is applied to the top left part of the button, it's pretty damn annoying.

is there anything that can be done about this?

thanks a lot (and thanks to the guy with the broken x-box controller who inspired me to make this thread--good luck to you ^_^)!

Man, it's been years since I had this problem but I just took 97% rubbing alcohol and a bunch of q-tips and kept swabbing alcohol into the key in question and letting it dry out. It got into the crack and dislodged the gunk before evaporating. Was a mountain dew sticky so it took a while but it worked like a champ for many years after.

The alcohol will simply evaporate. This was back in the days before I understood how different liquids effected electronics so I was super careful. Now I might be tempted to just drench the thing as the alcohol is going to all evaporate anyway.

Can get 97% rubbing alcohol for like $1 at any Walgreens. Shouldn't hurt the controller one bit as long as it isn't powered and you give it time to evaporate.

I had the same thing on a Logitech controller for no apparent reason...

It was a tad messy but worked for me...

Baby powder...sprinkle a small amount around the button and work it in...wipe off the excess

er, the controller has a battery in it. you can definitely mess it up without it being turned on.

i would take it apart so you don't end up getting any kind of solvent deep inside the thing

yeah, at least take the back off and take the battery out first.
