sticky keys - laptop

I have a laptop with sticky keys... someone poured soda or something on it I guess. I tried to take apart the keys to clean them... but they have little plastic attachements that made me sweat bullets trying to put them back together (It's a compaq lappy... and I think I cracked the little plastic attachments trying to put the key back in..)... anyway...
does anyone have any recommendations?
 
You don't get the keys themselves, you get an entire replacement keyboard for it, which is rather cheap, for an iBook G4 it cost me 20$ to replace it with a brand new one.

They should be rather easy to replace, I'm not sure of the innards inside the Compaq laptops but they usually make it simple.
