not long after I bought my first car, a 2005 subaru legacy 2.5gt (manual) my left hamstring and knees has been really bothering me. Is there anything that can be done to make it easier to press the clutch or convert the clutch to the steering wheel type?
Yeah - according to this video, your wrists are supposed to be right above the steering wheel. You should be able to fully depress the clutch with your knee still bent. My new car has a hydraulically assisted clutch, and I love it - only takes about 25lbs of force to engage it. I think the previous generation of Mustangs took like 40lbs.
my neighbor got into an accident and couldn't use a lot of pressure from her legs, so she had her car converted to some funky setup where the brakes, clutch and gas were all hand controlled via some levers. It looked rather simple.
hand lever operated, hydrolic assisted clutch, mounted where you're fingers would be on the wheel (10-2) similar to the "flappy-padles" for semi-auto's in sports cars
Nope. Funny thing is the stock LGT clutch actually feels a tad heavier than the Clutch Masters' Stage 1 I had in my previous car. Its certainly a lot heavier than the two Toyota's in the driveway.
Not a whole lot you can do to make it lighter. Just suck it up!
