Stick with my Bx6-2 or upgrade?

Is there any boards out there that are worth my time of upgrading? I'm running a celeron 600@1ghz with no problems. I really don't know what's good now-a-days with all of the chipsets from Intel. I don't want VIA at all. Any suggestions?

Below are Wintune results. Same components, just a MB swap from a BX6r2 to a KT7Raid. BX6r2 went to the boy with a Geforce II MX for games, his 250MMX with Voodoo II was getting a little slow for the new games. You be the judge, yes it's a little faster, but worth the hastle?

Being in that position I would keep it like it is, and wait till 1Q 2001 or so to see what's availible. It is far from being low end yet.

Since you are running at 1Ghz, I would not upgrade right now. I would wait until you can buy at least 1.5GHz of procesor (whether with overclock or default). You want to get at least a 50% cpu speed increase, unless you have $$ to burn.

I have a BX6-R2 and was considering a change also...but...

After thinking about it somemore and some advice I got in the forums here I'm waiting until the leap is wider in terms of real performance gains. I would suspect good timing would be about mid-year when both AMD and Intel decide to go beyond 1.5 gig both and chipset makers get a little bit more stability going.

My 2 cents
