I've heard/read about it but haven't tried it myself...maybe I will one of these days. There's a store that sells this kind of stuff somewhat near my mom's house back home.
 
My mother uses it in teas and such. It doesn't quite taste like sugar but it does have a strong sweetness to it. It's hard to describe.
