Read above ^^.

I want to hear your thoughts about the school, your experiences with your classmates and professors there.

Thanks.

I got my MS in Comp Sci from Stevens in 2000.

Hoboken is a happening place.

The classes were decent sized, and save for 1 professor, all of the professors were interested in teaching you and having you understand the material. In fact, the Dean of the school taught my Discrete Automata class - he was GREAT. The man knew his stuff, and made every effort to explain things - which is great for a class based on mathematical proofs.

I got a biochem degree from there. I was impressed with the honors program I was in (Stevens Scholars or something like that?). They had professors come in each week and tell you about their research. Then the school would pay your stipend if you wanted to do research assistant type stuff.

So the professor gets encouraged to involve students more (since the pay doesn't come out of their grant money). The student gets involved in research a lot earlier (this was undergrad, not grad school, remember) and the school tried to make sure you weren't just doing menial labor.

I didn't really appreciate how proactive that was until I went to grad. school somewhere else and you had to approach professors on your own looking for research opportunities.

Was also great being just a short walk and a PATH ride away from the city. That allowed me to take a few classes at NYU and the Japan Society in addition.

My friend went there.. around 94-98.. he loved it.. the only thing was he needed to buy a few pretty expensive software package for the class he took.. I think he was CS..
