 Do you know anything about Aikido? Aikido pretty much has no kicks. It would be like someone going to Mike Tyson to show them how to kick. "Hey, Mike Tyson showed me how to perfect that kick." Seagal has AWFUL kicks. That's not what he is good at. Now he may THINK (most likely does) he was AMAZING kicks, but he doesn't. He has like 2 kicks, a shitty looking round house and a shitty front kick. Why someone with a black belt in Karate would listen to this guy on how to PERFECT a kick that he's shitty at in the first place is beyond. Again, this HAS to be some kind of publicity stunt. There is no other explanation for it.

He's a 7th degree black belt, just because the Japanese martial arts don't utilize a kick often, doesn't mean they don't know how; its just not always preferred because of their movement. I had the opportunity to train with Jack Hoban, who trained me for hours on techniques I definitely already knew. But mastering when to use things you already know is a whole different mind fuck. So they already knew how to kick, great, but did they know how to manipulate someone into a place where that kick becomes effective?? I do ninjutsu, we don't kick a lot, but don't make the mistake of thinking I can't.

The tactic should define the technique, not the other way around. This is what Seagal was showing them.

Given the option, I'd rather train kicks with Machida's father. A 7th degree karate blackbelt and founder of Machida Karate. He's also the guy that brought karate to Brazil.

He is also, if memory serves me correctly, an 7th Dan in Aikido. So his martial arts skills aren't exactly lacking either.

unfortunately good shooting skills and being a 7th Dan in Aikido does not translate into being a good actor.

And quit going off on tangents. I never said anything about NOT having a trainer. It's the same in boxing. A good corner can mean everything. But we are not talking about having a good corner, we're talking about a washed up actor trying to get back in to the spotlight.

So they're throwing away countless precious training hours on a publicity stunt? Gotcha,. But wouldn't it be easier and make more sense for them to simply lie about Seagal training them instead of actually doing it? Since they're investing a decent chunk of their training time to him, it sure makes this a very elaborate publicity stunt.

Countless training hours? He was there long enough to film a short video showing him "Teach" anderson silvia how to use a kick anderson silva had previously knocked people out with.

Do HOAs ever actually return phone calls? Mine only does when I submit a BBB complaint against them. Obviously, they're picking a fight with Seagal because he has money, and they want that money. Of course, he doesn't exactly back down from a fight either, and that same money can tie up the HOA in a court room.

Why would a HOA care about losing a court case? They'll just pay for it with raised association fees, part of which Steven Seagal will end up paying anyway.

If he can afford it (and assuming he had good movie contracts I bet he can) He could sell his house at a loss and fuck up their property values.

:D If Seagal provided anything, it was going to it, based on situational awareness. Both Spider and Dragon used a variant of mae geri to devastating effect, and both credit Seagal for assistance.

For myself, it is easy enough to accept that he coached them on when he thought it would work, and to "pull the trigger' when the opening was there. The mechanics of the kick, which he claims to have adjusted/adapted, well, that part, as most know, is nonsense.
