Seagal was called as a government witness at the racketeering trial of Peter Gotti, brother of the late crime boss John Gotti, and other reputed gangsters.

Authorities say Seagal -- known for his martial-arts moves in films like Under Siege and Exit Wounds -- was a victim of a bid by the Gambino crime family to infiltrate the film industry for profit.

Prosecutors say Seagal, 50, was extorted after a falling-out with his former business partner, Julius Nasso, an alleged Gambino associate.

Wouldn't that be awesome to see some hollywood dufus actually unleash that kung-foo cheeto that they've always been 'learning' for their parts?

I think Seagal's martial arts knowledge is pretty darn authentic, though - just not Keaneu Reefers or Tom Pooz or Charlie's Sticks.

It is authentic... I believe he's the first foreigner to co-own a marital arts studio in japan with his former wife. I would bet a ton of people came and tried to kick his @ss or murder him. Since no one succeeded they came to respect him.

It isn't something he trained for his movie parts, he recieved a 7th degree black belt in Aikido from Kisshomaru Ueshiba.

It should be pointed out that even though he is considered an expert in Aikido, he still carries a gun. Why? Because unlike in his movies, a gun can override any level of hand-to-hand combat skills in real life.
