Slashdot is hosting a Q&A with Steve Wozniak.

Hop on in if you want to ask Woz a question or three.

Some quotes below.

iPhones are not inferior to other smartphones, and the cost is similar. iOS 6 is not inferior to Android. We could all get by with either of them.

As an Apple shareholder, what matters is not sales or market share. It's profitability.

I love Apple products and iTunes and wish it were on my Android products too.

As a consumer, who gives a damn, market share is much more important. Market share determines everything from how well my ecosystem is supported to how many/how good the Roms that support my devices are.

Steve still camps out in lines to buy his iPhones. The guy is also still very much a consumer too. And quite the gadget geek.

What has he done in the last 30 years?

Serious question, after SteveO gave it to him what has he been up to other than being a super rich gadgetwhore?

Sounds like he's actually been pretty active with charity work and donations.

And he's at Fusion-IO, I think doing something with SSD controllers now.

And I subscribe to his Twitter feed and everywhere he goes, he checks in with FourSquare. Think he had dinner at Chillis and Famous Daves (that figure doesn't work itself).

Yup, he has all kinds of gadgets, iphones, androids, he really uses whatever he likes out there and doesn't hate one or the other.

Market share helps but it is not the sole determining factor on whose ecosystem gets the most support. Why do you think Apple's iOS ecosystem gets equal, if not better, developer support than Android which enjoys a much larger market share?

Because Apple users spend more money, despite Android's larger market share.

Made a fool out of myself there. Thanks :whiste:

It's cool ... in the early days of Apple, they were called The Steves. It actually influenced both John Carmack and John Romero to call themselves The Johns early on in their career.

Normally if someone owned Apple shares (or Google, or Samsung, etc.), I would be much more unlikely to take that person's viewpoints less seriously, but Woz is just a lover of electronics.

I know people will respond negatively to this but...

I agree with Woz. Since I own a Mac, I wish iTunes was on my Android phones.

iTunes on Android? Perish the thought! Who needs that DRM-infested piece of spyware?

Yeah! Because dammit, Google doesn't contain any restrictions on app/book/music usage! Google would never allow DRM in the books or the apps they sell. They also will not support DRM companies. Down with DRM infested crap like iTunes. Lets go to an app store without DRM like...like...umm...someone give me a name of an app store without DRM real quick so I can continue my rant...

iTunes does more than manage media on Mac. It also syncs bookmarks, calendars, emails, and contacts. If I modify contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on my Mac computer, I wanna make sure all of it will be on my phone by the time I leave the table.

iCloud does all of it, but it's not reliable where there is no internet connection.
