Anyone else seen him or Billy Sheehan? They are awesome. Vai can play the crap out of the guitar and same with Billy and the bass. I saw them recently here in Memphis. Most have never heard of him because his music is too melodic and complex for the average mind that listens to all of this rap junk.

Vai and Billy both played in David Lee Roth's band before Eddie Van Halen became a member. I think Vai is a much better player than EVH.
 
I saw him @ Avalon in Boston about two months ago.

He is indeed amazing. At one point, he put the guitar on the floor and played it with his foot.

He isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I recognize his amazing talent nonetheless. I prefer soulful melow music like Santana... Numerous songs that Vai played that night all sounded the same- loud, ear-piercing and typical. I did love his slow songs though... beautiful...
 
Yeah, he did that too down here. I liked it when he took his wammy bar to slide across the strings on Erotic Nightmares.
