Steve Smith, Tedy Bruschi tie for comeback award

Sorry but I think that's a total joke. Why does the media have to kiss his a**? Yes he is a GREAT LB. Yes what he went through was amazing. But come on, he played half a season. Now steve smith, he had 1500+ yards recieving this year and 12 TDs. He played every game and was an enourmous factor in Carolina reaching the playoffs. That shouldn't even be close. Steve Smith should win a landslide.

I somewhat agree with you..BUT...Smith broke his leg...

Bruschi had a freakin stroke...that's a big difference...NE defense returned to form after Teddy's return..

I'm a Miami fan btw...so no bias..

Yeah, he had a bigger "injury" to come back from but still he's not even close to Smith. New England was going to make the playoffs with or without Bruschi. Carolina probably wouldn't have made the playoffs without Smith. I'm from Chicago so no bias either.

because media people just love the pats. can't get enough of them.

what bruschi did was great and I seriously called him stupid and crazy to risk even worse. But he doesn't deserve this.

Personally I want to see where Mark Brunell stands in voting for comeback player. He was all but done last year. People were calling him old, called Redskins crazy to trade for him. People wanted Gibbs head at the season for benching Patrick Ramsey and going with brunell.

This year performs at what he used be able to. Or atleast to a level many did not expect.

Bruschi/Smith=18 each
Brunell = 6

A total joke if you ask me. I agree that Brunell should be a close second.

You have a stoke, have surgery to fix a hole in your heart, you can barely see, then you come back and lead the New England defense. I call that comeback.

New England was 4-4 without Bruschi, and 6-1 with him (not counting the final season game where he didn't play much at all). Second half of the season we saw a significant improvement in NE's defense. Only reason why NE would have made the playoffs without Bruschi was because the rest of the AFC East sucks (but Miami would have provided some competition for the playoff spot).

Back in February when Bruschi had his stroke, there were many people/doctors that predicted that he had played his final NFL game.

Yeah but the criteria for comeback player isn't who had the worst injury. Bruschi wasn't the only player for NE to come back during that 6-1 stretch. They had a handful of lineman comeback as well. Also their schedule become MUCH MUCH easier during that stretch. During the 4-4 stretch they played Indy, Carolina, Pitt, San Diego, Denver. During the win stretch they played NO, NYJ twice, Buffalo.

My list:

1. Smith
2. Brunnell
3. Bruschi

Smith, unlike the two other guys, is even better than he was before, and he was pretty darn good before that injury.
