Steve O is insane

So I'm listening to Stern on the way into work this morning and they were talking about Steve O's appearance on the show the day before. Howard was saying that he believes Steve has some type of physchological issues based on the stunts that he pulls. Yesterday he gave himself a tattoo by carving a cross into his body with a butcher knife and then smearing ink into the wound. He also has false teeth now because he was chewing glass as a stunt and with all the vomiting he's done that eroded what was left of his real teeth.

Howard ran down some other Steve O stunts like the time he stapled his balls to his leg, stood under an elephant while it was taking a crap, gave himself an enema with beer and then drank it :disgust:. I've seen him on other shows where he's poured tobasco sauce directly into his eye, hit himself over the head with glass bottles. And that's just the stuff I know about, who knows what else he's done.

The kid needs help

A) my friend met him and hung out for a bit in cancun and confirmed that he is constantly consuming all types of drugs and alcohol.

B) after performing all these stunts for so long his body has become very very resiliant. He can heal wounds nearly twice as fast or more than a normal person

C) he is deffinitely fvcked in the head but rich nonetheless

According to who?

I guess the bottom line is fame has a price, if your only claim to fame is destroying yourself then...

Ever see the tattoo on his back? It's a portrait of himself giving the thumbs up with the words "Yeah dude, I rule" or something like that. You can see it on BMEzine.com, but it is blocked here at work.

Nonsense.

yeah, i'd like to know where you're getting that "fact" from.

Yea but if we all sat down and wrote a book of our lives, whose do you think would be the more interesting read? 🙂 You have to give him that, if experiences are what life is made up of, he hasn't hesitated to get as many as he could. I doubt he will ever be able to look back and say "I should have done that" or "What would have happened if I had tried that".

That doesn't mean I'm going to leap into a vat of crap in my backyard tomorrow, but I give him credit for doing what others haven't.

Nonsense.

i heard it on an interview i believe.....it was a while ago......why is this nonsense? makes perfect sense to me. Same principle with athletes and muscle composition. They are constantly ripping and destroying muscle fibers and there bodies have adjusted to this and can repair/recover faster than someone who hasnt been lifting weights.

The guy is fvcking crazy but he's funny as hell.

EDIT: As least he's having some fun... heh. You only live once I guess.

i think there's a huge difference between an athlete who takes care of his body and a self mutilator. are you sure the interview wasn't Steve-O saying it?

(btw, i think Steve-O is funny as hell)

Maybe to an extent, but our bodies don't really work like that in regards to injuries.

It can't be compared with building muscle, because that is cumulative. It takes time to rebuild tissue, and that ammount of time should be realitivly constant, assuming the person is in generally good health.

At least, that's the way I understand that aspect of our cellular activities. I don't see how you could "build" your repair mechanisms, other than just being extra healthy.

i wish i had the credentials to be able to better explain this but it is possible. The human body is adaptive.
Who said you need credentials? I certainly don't have the credentials to say that you're wrong, technically.

I'm just saying that isn't how I understand the repair aspect of our bodies works. It's adaptive to certain things, but.. not that adaptive. 😉

Building muscle is a pretty rudimentry response to physical exertion.

I stand by my assertion. You don't heal faster when you damage your body over and over again. It just doesen't work like that. Assuming all necessary elements are present(you're healthy), it takes XX time to rebuild XX cells. That time should be realitivly constant.

I would guess that for severe injuries, your body probably does speed up metabolism to get the job done quicker, but not 2X.

If you break a bone every 8 weeks for 2 years, at the end of the 2 years do you think it is going to take less than 8 weeks for your bone to repair itself? No.

If you cut your arm in a different spot once a week for a year, will the cuts be healing faster at the end of the year? No.

I'm all ears if I'm wrong though.

I guess it depends on what you consider fun

He probably enjoys pain. He's a psycho masochist narcissist, self-mutilating himself all the way to the bank 🙂

He and Pontius getting in the water with the killer whales on Wildboys was the craziest/stupidest thing I've ever seen. Orcas are a complete wild card and could tear you to pieces as easily as they could swim right by you. They have got to be doing serious drugs or have a genuine deathwish.
