Still, gotta keep things in perspective. At least he wasn't a money-grabbing prima donna as he could have made $11 million more in Toronto.
Howard won't goto the Lakers, he doesn't want to follow in Shaq's footsteps.
Seriously its like a fucking clone. Is he going to put on a bunch of weight too?
lol I never understood what was wrong with following in Shaq's footsteps, he's only one of the greatest centers to ever play the game.
Steve Nash is past his prime.
and the Lakers gave up two firsts and two seconds. Looks like their GM is past his prime too.

Those picks will be scrubs playing in the D league and will be lucky to ever see consistent playing time in the NBA. This was another gift to the Lakers.
I'll root for Nash either way, would love to see him get a ring.
But you also never know what gems are lying around either. Tony Parker was a late first round pick and Ginobili was a second. Giving up so much for a 38 year old PG is a lot IMO.
Well if you knew the back ground between Dwight and Shaq, you'd understand. Dwight USED to look up (maybe he does again, don't know as it hasn't been brought up recently) to Shaq, but Shaq bascially made fun of Dwight for the "Superman" thing saying he was the original and Dwight was a fake (something along those lines) instead of just saying good for him.lol I never understood what was wrong with following in Shaq's footsteps, he's only one of the greatest centers to ever play the game.

After that, to my knowledge hasn't wanted to associate himself with Shaq, being a dominate center for the Magic has already placed him there, but leaving them to goto LA would make him Shaq 2.0. Lots of people don't want to straight up copy what others have done before them, even less so after they've publicly poked fun at you.
That is one way of looking at it, however Shaq had a Kobe with spring in his legs, Dwight won't have that benefit. It's a very risky bet.Otoh, what better way to stick it to Shaq? Imagine Kobe talking after winning another championship, and telling the press "Yes, it's great having a dominant center who wants to win, shows up in shape, and isn't lazy."
Should have chased after Lin and D'antoni instead
Even though I don't like the Lakers, I think this is a really good trade for them. None of the Lakers point guards last year were good at defense. However, he made Amare a better player, and he made Gortat a better player. Even if the Lakers stay put with their current lineup, I think Gasol and Bynum will have big years, cause he is going to get them open, and he is going to get them easier shots. Whether it is enough to compete with the Spurs and Thunder is still yet to be seen, but I really think they made the team better with this trade.
