Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa questioned on Wednesday whether there would be any population left on Earth if not for rape and incest.
"What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?"

Okay, I sort of get his point that if we go all the way back to what we would consider the first "Humans" there had to be some level of incest and I highly doubt there was much consent. However he doesn't appear to be a guy who completely understands evolution.
All I can says is WUT????

Steve King is the same retard that rails against illegal immigrants while every diary farm in his district employs them and he does nothing about it.

Republicans love him. I recall him being removed from committees earlier this year because of racist comments. Wasn't he in the room during the Mueller testimony?

Who is saying that we pull out all the folks who were products of Incest and Rape anyway? The answer to the question is "of course there would be, why wouldn't be any left?"

"Considering all the wars and all the rape and pillage that has taken place ... I know I can't certify that I was not a part of a product of that"
Yes, I think there's a very high possibility that he is the product of rape and incest.

Hmmm ... maybe a little culling of the herd is not such a bad idea ... we do have a lot of bad crop going around.

He's right, and I've argued this here before. What he's wrong about is that this is exactly the reason why abortion should be legal. We need to make the human "rape gene" extinct.

While we are at it, when testing for abnormalities, downs etc, do a test for the MAOA/CDH13 genes as well ...

I had to hear it to make sure it wasn't taken out of context.. Nope.. The full context makes it even more crazy!

Uhh, is there any credible evidence that the inclination to rape is genetic in any way? Beyond the way that all mental proclivities are genetic, that is.
No single actual "rape gene" has been discovered to my knowledge, however it is fact that rape is a very successful evolutionary strategy in nature which is utilized by the majority of animal species, including humans.

Right, so, how would it be 'bred out' if it's evolutionarily conducive? Wouldn't it just re-emerge as any other trait would?

That's ignoring the fact that it still exists today, despite it not being evolutionarily conducive for what, 15+ generations?

Kind in mind in many cultures the rapee was forced to marry the rapist.

We're not even 1 generation away from that. While no longer socially acceptable, rape is still prevalent today, still evolutionarily conducive, and this thread is about an elected government official arguing for it to remain so.

I guess it is at least in keeping with the general idea behind conservatism: rape and incest babies were born in the past, no reason to change it.

Ask him if he's cool with someone pulling his daughter into a gangbang against her will.

Let's take a moment to say a prayer of thanks for rape and incest. Without them, people like King would have to resort to farm animals.

What I'm getting from this is that Steve King's family tree is just a stick.

I was going to say, isn't this pretty much him saying his religion loves rape and incest?

Ask him if he's cool with someone pulling his daughter into a gangbang against her will.

Then he'd probably go, "well that depends, am I involved or not?" Which if the answer is yes then he'd be very into it.

Well considering that that the Bible is full of incest and rape, it is hardly surprising to find Steve King is against exceptions for those in promoting forced birth laws.

Well, historically speaking, You have two parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 great-great grandparents - go back just 15 generations and you have over 72,000 relations, and somewhere along the line the odds are favorable, given wars and human conduct thereof, that a child born of rape or incest becomes likely.

That said, that he believes we're not slightly more mature as a people yet says oodles about him and how he would conduct himself if the world would just let him.

Let's say Droit du seigneur probably holds great interest to him.
