I expect a laptop to last at least 3 years, and I very rarely shut it off. I don't really find that exceptional. My last one gave in after 3.5 because of a faulty screen, current one is just over 2 years with never a single issue.

I have an 8 year old desktop built by HP which is still running great.. and this is India where temps don't dip below 75 most of the year.

I also have a 6 year old Dell that I borrowed it from my friend.. the battery is gone, but it works fine.

I used a Macbook for 3 years before selling it.. the battery died and had to send the laptop back to Apple a couple of times because the RAM they used was corrupted.

My lab mate OTOH had to send his Macbook back 5 times because those nVidia GPUs they used went bust.

What does this tell you? Absofuckinglutely nothing.
