Religions are often part of a person's identity. In that case, a foreign identity.

In the case of a fully assimilated American whose only identity is that of his country, his origin means nothing to him or to me. He is 100% bonafide American.

In short, it all depends on the individual and who they consider themselves to be.

well, the Arab hate is strong in this country. i bet 90% of the folks did not know he was of middle eastern descent. nothing in OT makes a difference, but hey, now u know this much. i will provide additional useless information as needed.

I don't see how this is relevant to anything. Jobs wasn't raised by him and never met him so Jobs may be genetically an arab, but his personality and everything else about him would not be.

It is like saying that Obama is Kenyan, because he is technically. (at least half) But other than where his dad came from everything else about him is American.

I fully understand the hatred of Arabs in this country. I'm not saying it's right...but I understand it. Right or wrong, it's the face Americans put on terrorists after all the Al Queda attacks leading up to, and including the attacks on 9-11.
Add to that the way many Arabic people hold on to their culture (which is much different than ours) after they immigrate here, and Americans see them as "different than us," and as a "threat to our way of life." (again, right or wrong, perception is often more important than reality)

I hope his 36 virgins are all ugly boys. :biggrin:
