And for his replacement: New Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'I'm Thinking Printers'

Printers? Really? Turf long owned by HP, Canon & Epson. More like "I'm Thinking Market Suicide."

They said the same about the smartphone market and the tablet market and look where we are now.

I do agree with you though, printers seems like a peculiar market to get into.

Steve didn't just build devices, he built Apple, and that will likely be his true legacy.

Cook is behind a hell of a lot of what Apple has done in the last few years.

He doesn't look so good.

This picture of Steve Jobs was taken today -- two days after he resigned as the head honcho of Apple.

In his resignation letter, Jobs said, the day finally came when he could no longer perform his duties.

Tim Cook's motivation for staying at Apple: 1 million shares. They really, really want him sticking around.

Well, as Gruber was saying it is a mutual thing. Apple is saying 'Tim Cook is the guy, we are willing to cede ~$400M in stock to this guy' and Tim Cook is saying 'I am confident that in 10 years, when I finally get all these shares, that the stock will be worth at least that much'.

Remember, that these million shares are not an immediate thing. He isn't being handed a suitcase full of cash, he is receiving a christmas card from grandpa saying that he (Apple) has opened a savings bond for him (Cook). The first 500K shares are available in August 2016, and the rest in August 2021.

Lol. Quite pwning the unobservant, humourless masses. :D
Mind you, Apple did have some damn good printers back in the day.

As for the picture of him "sick", there's something odd about it.

He did build Apple, and set a framework for success that didn't exist in the 90s. Namely their marketing wizardry. The techs actually inventing the products will still be with the company. Hopefully the new guard is willing to keep taking risks.

Whereas there is already a specialized market for printers, there weren't such markets for Steve Jobs when he introduced concepts. I think the framework you're talking about, mmntech, will remain constant through the years Cook is in charge. The worst I can see Cook doing is building on this framework

I know one thing about Steve Jobs...he quitted as CEO is because he could not handle how awful Apple OSX 10.7 (Lion) he get away with it.
