steve jobs left plans for iphone 6s and ipad 6

So he has plans left for 4 more years, since 5 will yield a 5s, then 6 to 6s. If we take into account the 16 month spam then it could be very well stretched for half decade.

Other than vague ideas or general philosophies, there's no way he could take into account possible changes in the mobile computing world. Yeah, so I call foul on this!

they need to do a gaming console already... They already have support of major developers on their iOS platform... just port it to a console device, give it insane hardware, and BOOM. Game Over everyone!

They did once... it didn't go well. 😛

Too Soon? Probably, but its just too good to pass up.

I don't think people are going to pay 60 dollars for Angry Birds on their TV.

Since the iPhone and iPad have already been launched, all Apple's feature plans are refreshes. Faster, more powerful hardware, thinner, lighter, etc. Apple doesn't do major redesigns of their existing product line very often.

The current console business is pretty cutthroat and most of the big players subsidize their hardware. Look how much money Microsoft had to stick in before their Xbox business became profitable. I don't think that Apple has any interest in getting in to that kind of environment. They've already shown that they can develop a new gaming platform (iOS) where they make plenty of money on the hardware and a little on the side from selling the games.

They don't need a console. Airplay via AppleTV is all they need.

Tech moves way to fast for him to have left more than just the most general guidelines.

Wasn't Jobs talking about clouds in the late 90s? Don't underestimate he probably knew the future and gave them plans for crazy stuff.

Apple (or rather factions within Apple, before and after Pippin) wanted to gear more support for gaming. Steve Jobs was adamantly AGAINST gaming on Apple platforms - he felt that computers were meant for "srs bzns", not video games.

Exactly. In this market, there's no way to solidify plans for years in the future when markets and technology change so quickly.

You could apply this comment to almost every Android OEM and their phones (or tablets) as well...

But I do agree with others that it's likely more in the line of design philosophy and general direction rather than anything specific in terms of what Steve Jobs left. Maybe specific for the iPhone 5, but when you go two+ years out, it's simply too hard to set anything in stone.

this is total BS

how much of the actual design of any of the current versions do you really think came from Jobs?

Do you think Bill Gates designed Windows XP all by himself too?

OK, I'm an underling of SJ...

SJ: "Here's what you'll be making in 6 years after I'm dead."

Me: "Ok" (realizing my micromanaging, short tempered, CEO of the century will accept no other response from me, and will be dead soon and we can take or leave what he's planning, desperately hoping the SOB doesn't try to jam an IC into my head to prove a point...)
