Since when was porn available at the App Store? Never. So I don't really understand his comment. All it takes for me to do on my iPhone is to launch the Web browser and go to any porn site - 99% of them have mobile versions that work fine with the iPhone.

And the removal of apps with "questionable" content is bullshit. The most you could get were bikini-wearing hotties - big deal. Not to mention Playboy and Victoria's Secret are still available and offer (arguably) even hotter and less-dressed women! Talk about double-standards.

Why oh why does a fcked up Apple offer such a great device... Why can't the competition give us consumers a great, smooth UI? The moment something that's as smooth, portable and great to use shows up not from Apple, I'm jumping ships. I am tired of this control and "we know what's best for you better than you do" attitude.

Using iPhone 3GS btw.

EDIT: Not to mention you need a credit card to have an iTunes account (at least here you do) so that automatically removes minors... Even if a parent would start their kid's account, they have full control over everything - you need to type in your password, even for the free purchases, so your kids can't download questionable content without your knowledge... So Apple is basically telling adults, what they can or can't download - crazy!

Apple is telling you what they will host on their app store and what they will not. This is fine. I don't see why you need to complain about it. Like I said, Apple's not going to arrest you, or take away your iPhone or void your warranty if you watch pron. You can still visit your favorite websites. If you want a pron app, you can JB it and get it from Cydia or some other source.

Are you going to flame Netflix for telling you what you can or cannot watch on your DVD player? Seriously, there's other sources out there.

Android has an incredibly smooth UI, better than Apples I would say, but not with the stock configuration. You need to root the device to bump up your clock speed a bit. The Moto DROID for example has a stupidly low clock rate for what the A8 can handle. They clock it at 550Mhz as the max and I've got mine up to 1.3Ghz, stable, and using 50% less battery than the stock image because of a low voltage kernel. In fact, with my brightness on pretty high, gps/wifi/bluetooth/sync enabled and using the phone moderately often I am able to get 2 full days out of a charge now, actually I last charged my phone Monday morning and I have 40% battery left right now on Wednesday.

That's crazy... BTW, when did people start overclocking their phones? lol, I can see a new industry cropping up.

If they pulled all the apps with such content I wouldn't mind... Hell, I don't mind this in general as I am not using such apps. I did download them to see what they offer, it wasn't anything amazing so no big loss. I'm talking about principle here - they pulled the small apps and left the big players - obviously they don't want to remove them as to not have bad rep from those big companies. But why do they yap about "keeping the App Store clean" and not do it properly? Hell, if they missed a few smaller ones I could understand it, but they left the biggest ones available! This is the bullshit part.

As for them telling me what I can or can't do - if there was a competing "app store" to theirs I wouldn't say a word. But there's nothing else. And jailbreaking = no warranty and support from my carrier. Should the phone die for whatever reason and I can't flash it back to stock firmware, I'm out of luck. So that's not an option.

All your examples are services I can purchase on my PC. Nobody is telling me what I can or cannot do on my PC. I paid for it and it's my business. I still have warranty on every part - doesn't matter if I run Windows or Linux. If I buy music from iTunes or Amazon. If I run OpenOffice or MS Office. I get to choose. I have zero choice on the iPhone - either Apple approved it and I can use it (as they deem it "appropriate" for me) or it's not available at all. Other platforms give me choice - hence, as I said, the moment their UI experience will match what Apple offers on the iPhone, I'm out.

Been going on for a while. There's an app called SetCPU that allows you to overclock. I keep mine at 800mhz and it idles at 125mhz. Works really well

It's a lot larger than porn. They will deny anything they deem bad be it political or sexual or violent. Not allowing satirical political cartoons??? They are Apple and love telling people what they can do and what they can watch on their devices.

I usually do some surfing on the phone, send a few emails, and send a few dozen text messages. While is this better than stock, I don't think you're going to get more than double what I get unless you're not using the phone at all during that time.

Well I think it's the way that Jobs worded things. If they prevented Safari from visiting pron sites, that's one thing, or to prevent the iPhone from loading any sketchy material.

But what Jobs probably means is they're not letting pron get into the App Store. Now I guess it's arguable that this effectively means that no pron gets onto the iPhone as the iPhone is restrictive and so the App store is your only choice (unless of course you mod the hell out of it).

And what pron store on Android may I ask? The Android marketplace?

I don't think so. Everyone SAID that the porn industry would determine which format would win, but a lot has changed since VHS vs Betamax. I think major studio support and the PS3 contributed a lot more to Blu-Ray's success.

Again, Apple isn't blocking porn on their devices, they're just choosing not to SELL porn. I picked one streaming porn site that was mentioned in this thread and another one that was not mentioned, and both had mobile sites that work on the iPhone.

The Porn industry was almost 100% behind HD-DVD, they didn't like BluRay, Toshiba just couldn't stay in the game long enough for the porn people to actually start releasing HD-DVD's, had that happened. I believe HD-DVD might have had a real shot. Internet or not, a lot of people still go to B&M stores and actually buy porn movies.

I thought Vivid decided to go with Blue Ray, and that sort of shifted the balance. Maybe I am wrong, I just use my computer with HDMI output (will replace it with an Android tablet later) so I skipped the format wars.

Mine is using the same kernel with about the same usage and I leave work at 80% battery left after 8-9 hours. Using the setcpu profiles when my phone is in sleep mode or the screen is off it underclocks itself down to 125mhz. Overall rooting has improved my battery life.

Not sure why you're not seeing as large of gains. I took mine off the charger this morning and I have 80% battery life right now, 9 hours later. Sounds like you need to mess with setCPU a bit more.
