Sad news to hear.

Perhaps the most influential person in computer history when it comes to the user interface.

I wonder if they kept it secret until the 4S announcement. Seems kind of sketchy. Either way...will I get flash on my iPad now?

Damn, I thought it was a joke when someone said he's dead. But now pretty much every creditable news website including Apple's is reporting it.

RIP Steve Jobs

I've never had more mixed feelings about the death of someone before. He was a heartless prick, and for that reason alone karma is a bitch.

On the other hand he was a brilliant innovator.

Wow, I had a feeling it was coming very soon but I kinda hoped he'd somehow recover.
Hate or like the guy or his company, it's never fun to hear of someone going through what he did.

RIP.

Ironicly, today I was looking at google news, and as a prank I was doing to edit the page (in the cache) to make a fake article entry that he died, and tell my coworker and when he calls BS I'd show him the page. I feel like an asshole now, he actually DID die.

The mouse, the GUI, the usable touch screen interface, all thanks to him/apple.

Truly amazing some innovations we just take for granted.

I feel sad that he won't get to see where his innovations will end up / take the industry in 20-30 years

Popularized, but not invented/innovated. Though Apple indeed did have many true innovations of their own over the years.

It doesn't matter what kind of operating system you use now and favor over another type... a giant in the industry is gone.

The mouse was invented in the 60s and the gui that apple used was taken from Xerox Parc. Jobs got credit for a lot of that, but it wasn't his idea. He was a great marketeer. I hate it when they try to compare him with Edison, he was NOT an inventor.
