Yes, but the guy knew it was a stolen phone (the guy selling it contacted several places asking for money and surprise, Gizmodo went through with it). Considering Gizmodo, actually almost all of Gawkers blogs' history I wouldn't trust them for shit.

Definitely there were shady stuff on the other side, and it looks like the iPhone 5 situation is even worse, but that doesn't excuse them (guy who found the phone and the Giz editor for paying to get what he knew was stolen property) for being pieces of shit too.

As for this topic, it was probably a setup for another shitty article or their dickhead desire to be "first!".
