I always knew he would get killed by an extreme animal. At least he died doing what he loved.

🙁

Crazy, but I always knew he was going to die eventually from doing something crazy. I thought he'd get killed by a croc or a snake though.

wiki

Their stinger is a razor-sharp, barbed or serrated cartilaginous spine which grows from the ray's whip-like tail (like a fingernail). It is coated with a toxic venom.

It is possible for ray stings to be fatal if they sever major arteries, are in the chest or pelvic region, or are improperly treated.

RIP

Not a good news; he seemed like a very nice fellow - very pasionate about the animal world...

I think it is being reported on local news up in Cairns. Might take a while to filter down to the northern states. It is reported on a few Australian web sites, tho. 🙁

I can imagine his last words were something to the effect of "BY CRIKEY, LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY! YOU'RE A PRETTY LITTLE ONE, AIN'T YA?"

I sent the first link posted to Drudge, and it just showed up on his site 2 min ago. I wonder if others were sending too.

I swam with stingrays in Grand Cayman. I knew they could be dangerous but never realized that they could be fatal.
