supposedly up to 50 athletes being subpoenaed. Wrongdoing wasn't entirely on their part...I believe the case deals with how this company they were affiliated with was using a derivative of a banned steroid that could pass the drug tests, and athletes were not informed it was derivative of a banned substance.Originally posted by: new2AMD

LOL. Bonds has bulked up alot, unusually, as well as Sosa. Look at Sosa's rookie year baseball cards, it's hilarious, he looks like a twig. Of course it does take talent and reflexes to hit a round ball with a round bat, but being that much stronger = + opposite field homeruns.Originally posted by: DrPizza
Nahhh, I don't believe it. Bonds couldn't have used steroids! Most people his age are able to develop biceps the size of my thigh just from a regimen of working out and eating the proper foods.

It's possible. I'm almost 50 and my body still responds to wieght training with proper nutrition just like it did when I was half my age (to bad my back doesn't). That said, when I first heard about these types of Steriods I immediately thought of Bonds and McGuire. Both have a similar build and both seem to have gotten better as they got older. Usually an Athletes skills diminish when they get older. I'll tell you one thing, Pedro Martinez needs to look into this so he can stop being such a puss and get some stamina!Originally posted by: DrPizza

Same with manny ramirez.
It's definitely possible to bulk up at any age. For example, I'm 26: 5 months ago was benching double my weight (before packing on more mass), and now leg press about 1K lbs (11 plates on each side, rep with 10) at 195 lbs. I only weighed 170 about 8 months ago. All 100% natural, but I'm taking 4 supplements (Creatine HSC, Glutamine, Whey Protein, Glucosamine). If you learn how to spike your insulin (using Dextrorotatory Glucose Crystals or foods with high GI levels) after working out you can put mass on in a hurry!Originally posted by: Red Dawn

Science has definitely advanced in the field of bodybuilding. What products should be banned and what shouldn't be? I think if it's anything that is a hormone (any type), then it shouldn't be used. My reasoning is that there are definitive studies shown that many hormones will damage your body permanently. There is a fine line between supplements and hormones.
Pedro needs to bulk up his legs big time, and do pushups for his upperbody. He won't gain mass up top for arm speed, but can utilize more power from bigger legs.
