Stepped on a rat...

Was walking home from dinner, in flip flops, and stepped on a rat. I didn't see it (it squealed when I stepped on it and by the time I looked it was gone), but my friend did, and said I stepped on the back portion of its body and that it was a very big rat.

It was just sitting on the sidewalk and obviously unconcerned with approaching humans, since i didn't see it and stepped on it. It made a huge, loud noise when I stepped and ran away.

Do I need to worry about diseases or anything? As I was in flip flops, I'm a bit concerned. Definitely felt my feet rub up against it...

OK. Now that I know I'm fine, let's move on.... I thought it was a pretty honest question. Who knows... could have been rabid.

You've got to be bitten to get rabies. Just like you won't get HIV from being in the same room as an AIDS patient.
