Lebron and Jordan are pretty apathetic when it comes to actual issues. This is good cause kids do get killed for shoes.

I dont really like Stephon as a player but this is definetly a good thing.

It's still a waste of money from poor kids/families who can't afford it solely to line the pockets of Jordan and Nike.

I applaud Marbury for this.

I don't like Starbury, but this is a good thing he's doing.

See Nike, you can pay kids in third world countries 1 cent a day to make shoes AND pass the savings on to your customers.

I've never been much of a Marbury fan, despite being a Knicks fan, but this earns him my respect. One of the news shows (20/20?) did a story on this as well.

i like Marbury as a player and i like him even more after this.
why don't you guys like him, i think he's always being picked on for whatever he's doing on court
he scores 40, people say he's hogging the ball and shoots too much. he scores 10 and people say he's not shooting to prove a point. he's being criticized just like Kobe (not as bad, of course)

It's great Big Ben is joining him. I don't like Ben Wallace at all, especially after being the cause of the Detroit brawl with Ron Artest, but anyone who's joining this cause has the greater good in mind (and not his own wallet)

i wonder if nike will counter this with their own line of value shoes

its cause every team he left has improved tremendously. NJ, Phoenix and even Minnesota.

isn't that a bit unfair to him? he's a great player but I don't think he is as great as true Point Guards like Kidd and Nash. New Jersey traded him for Kidd and Phoenix traded him to NY, then signed with Nash. if NYK trades him for someone like Kobe, I'm sure they'll win more games than 31.

The Knicks need to move him to a shooting guard and get a true point guard. Get rid of Francis.

Shoots first passes 2nd, doesn't play defense, doesn't play off the ball, headcase, disagreeable, crappy shooter, style over substance... need I go on?

I think the knock on Marbury is that he, himself, is a decent performer, but he does not elevate his team. If you want examples of players making their team better, look no further than Jason Kidd, the player Marbury was traded for in 2001. Here are the W-L records of the Nets and the Suns 3 years before and after the trade:

Nets
1998-99: 16-34 Marbury
1999-00: 31-51 Marbury
2000-01: 26-56 Marbury
2001-02: 52-30 Kidd
2002-03: 49-33 Kidd
2003-04: 47-35 Kidd

Suns
1998-99: 27-23 Kidd
1999-00: 53-29 Kidd
2000-01: 51-31 Kidd
2001-02: 36-46 Marbury
2002-03: 44-38 Marbury
2003-04: 29-53 Marbury

Marbury is a hell of a player but I think he was expected to be a PG with vision and he's not. It is perhaps an unfair expectation as he's really a SG in a PG body. Kidd, however, is that PG with ridiculous court vision and has the uncanny ability to make his teammates better, as the W-L records above show.

Good cause, but steve and barrys quality leaves a lot to be desired. Bought some shirts and jeans from there. Jeans started tearing after only a month
