There was an old thread about Cell. It was so-so. I liked the first 1/2. The only thing bad about the ending, IMO, was lack of explanation for the "pulse."

yea that too.

what pissed me off is SK made it like 3/4 of the country got zapped by the pulse. what happend to the boston police, what happend to the army, marines.... at least king could have made it half way believable. the more i think about it the more i think this is the worst book i have ever read by King.

It was OK. He's written better books, and he's written worse.

The ending was a bit.. open-ended.. but I think that was the only way to do it.

No explanation for what was happening, all the reader has to go on are the guesses by the school kid. Also the ending, what are the chances the lead character would be able to find what he was looking for?

I think Everything's Eventual was on par with Skeleton Crew & Night Shift.

As for Cell, I thought it was an entertaining book with a weak ending. As was already stated, he's written better, and he's written worse.

I quit reading King years ago. I loved his early stuff, and the writing he did under his pseudonym (forget the name now, Bachman or something like that), but I think that about the time soon after he wrote It, I read a few more books and haven't picked up anything since. Dolores Claiborne, or whatever the name of that book was, I think was the last thing I read by him. Just lost interest in reading the same old characters over and over in every book.

A lot of his books have sucky endings...i liked the book early one but then it just got sort of cheesy...

like why exactly does a computer overmind need to demonstrate to its already captive zombie minds revenge at a stadium?

its not logical...its a computer, wouldnt it have a logical brain that said eliminate the threat immediately?

and how did this collective hope to establish a new civilization with most of it members semi-dead or dieing from wounds and disease...do zombies procreate and have baby zombies?

i guess they could use the regular survivors as breeders but meh...

I also didnt really see the point of killing off the girl by having those guys do a drive by bricking.....did she really need to be killed off only to show that the zombies would kill anyone that messed with them....

I am a dedicated SK fan and collector of his books. I will continue reading anything he writes, I just wished the new books were as good as his older ones. I just finished Lisey's Story, and something happened to me while reading it that hasn't happened in a long time with one of his books-it almost put me to sleep, but I managed to complete it anyway.

My first experience with Sk books was actually my (hot) sociology teacher using a sk paperback book as a blackboard eraser ;/ I borrowed it from her and read it. Don't remember which book it was, had a writer(?) out in the desert where some evil force in a cave was taking over people and animals. I'll see if the library has any of his books and check em out.
