Stephen Hawking is wrong, aliens wouldn't want our resources and would be friendly. .

Ye of little faith

But so is the Higgs Boson conjectured and 9 billion dollars has been invested in the CERN collider to find it.

Sometimes you just have to start somewhere. As long as you correct your views along the way. CERN will always be useful. Even if it means it is debunking long standing theories. The only sad thing about science is that for some individuals, grant money for research, or fame is a motive to lie. Causing huge setbacks in development of views and technologies. Ever seen how a lighting bolt travels through the air ? Remarkable similarities with the unfolding of everyday life over time.

I do find it interesting the people tell me I don't know what I am talking about when NOBODY really knows what they are talking about for sure and all of you know I'm right about that.

We are talking about at this time, not proven facts. I really find it interesting though how so many people like to tell me I'm wrong when they cannot even prove they are right. What should be said is this: " from what I know I must be right because you have to be wrong" Guess what ?we could both be wrong about everything!

Okay, you can sit smugly in your little LaLa land and pretend that the Relativity is just an unprovable theory. I’ll continue to read about the experiments that are being done all that time that clearly demonstrate its accuracy. It has been a very successful theory, and just because you don’t like it’s conclusions does not allow science to disregard it.

This topic of Einstein's theories including his last efforts on GUT were discussed interesting enough last evening with physicist John Brandenburg. According to Brandenburg, Special Relativity is the theory that limits speed to c, but General Relativity allows spacetime (SP) to be twisted even into a pretzel and when this happens the speed of light becomes less important (eg, for things such as time travel) and this opens the door to the possibility of travel via creation of black holes and/or worm holes or even just some kind of other SP distortion phenomenon/mechanism yet to be discovered/explored.

i am going to go with hawking on this one.

The only reason to expend so much energy on expanding is because your home planet is over crowded or all your resources are used up. The same reason we have to figure out a way off this rock. Otherwise you just send a robot.

Even if resource gathering is the goal, robots would STILL be a better solution than sending individuals. The only reason you would send individuals is because you can.
