step up to 7950 GT?

Is it worth it? Like Isaid I got a 7900GT. Can you also volt mod the 7950? And I got a question about the step up program. When I turn in my video card to eVGA, do they determine my difference by how much I spent on Newegg, or how much they charge?

It's your job as the OP to look up on evga's site how much it is to step up. Just take what you paid for yours and subtract it from what their price is.

And you can't step up twice (i.e. 7800GT->7900GT, can't go for the 7950 then 😛)

No, the second questio I was asking was do they come up with the difference from how much I paid for it at newegg, or how much they charge? Because if it's how cuh I paid for it on newegg to step up would be about $80.
 
They rape you apparently, so it would cost around $80 to Step Up instead of around $40 if prices were at NewEgg's price of $320 for the KO model instead of eVGA's random price of $380 for the KO mode).
 
It would really depend on the cost. When did you buy the card, maybe you can wait and step up to a G80.....maybe
 
This would be a retarded upgrade...5% more performance at best. I'd put 1.4 volts and try and overclock your 7900GT.. 600/1700 is pretty easy and will beat any 7950GT. I vmod my GT to 1.4v and overclocked it to 672/1800 and beat GTX... I won't be upgrading for a long time like mid cycle DX10 cards

A: The Step-Up? Program is free; you are required to pay the difference between your original invoice price, less any applicable rebates, and the price of the new card, plus any applicable tax and shipping. The program itself has no cost associated with it.

So if you have your Newegg Invoice and your card is registered then you should be OK.

They will ask for a copy of the receipt for your 7900GT. That's how they know how much you paid for it. You must have bought it from a distributor that is on their list. Then, they will subtract what you paid from what they sell the 7950 for and that is what you will have to pay plus shipping. You will also have to pay to ship your card to them.

You will need to have kept the box and all the accessories for your 7900GT because you preferably need to send them all back.

If you applied for a rebate on your 7900GT, they may take that into account also.

DOOOH! It was in front of me the whole time.
 
Not worth it... I paid $240 (after rebate) for my 7900 GT KO, and I was considering the same thing. In the end, I just decided to buy a Zalman VF700, so we'll see how much of an OC boost I can get with that baby. Stepping up would've cost around $100 with shipping for me.
