seems like a decent deal.

when i messed up my 6800gt a month or so ago rather than wait on the rma, i got a new card and sold the rma return when it came. now i'm thinking i can trade it back to evga for the 360 i paid plus the freight and it'll cost me about 250 for the 7800gtx.

i also wonder if the vf700 will fit on this new card.

any opinions?

If you really need the extra performance, try it.

If you do I would try OCing your CPU a bit highier though.

ahh yeah, i have a sandy 3700+ coming friday. my winny hit a wall about 2500 :(

i was really going to hold off on the 7800 until i remembered the step up program which is only good for 90 days after invoice for the card i'm trading in.

i'm still kind of torn though. if i didn't have the 3700+ on the way i wouldn't even consider it.

i might wait a few weeks to see what other parts appear - apparently there is supposed to be a 7800 vanilla and a 7800GT on the way, and those parts might very well end up faster than your 6800GT anyways, and hopefully for a lot less money. Personally, I know I'm anxious to see what is coming out in the $200-300 segment - 16-pipe 7600GT here i come!!!!!!

true, although i don't think i'll see the 2-300 range in my time frame. i would like it if they added a 512 instead of 256 but its not critical obviously.

and unfortunately, as its through evga direct the prices don't move that much if any. they still have the 6600gt agp listed at 216.
