I'm climbing the AON building in Chicago again this year and am gonna try to drag a few friends along to do it with me. Its the 3rd tallest building in Chicago at 1,136 feet or 83 stories. 1643 stairs total.

Was looking for fun team names and ended up going with "Step Children"

Anyways, if anyone would like to donate the proceeds to go the children's memorial hospital.

Did the climb in 2010 in 16 minutes, 52 seconds finishing 190th out of 2,000+ climbers. Hope I can improve this year.

Another one in Chicago Feb. 27, 2011. Hustle Up the Hancock Full climb only - sold out. :(

Each year over 4,000 people climb to the top of John Hancock Center to raise funds for lung disease research, advocacy and education. In 2009 over 2,500 participants indicated they or someone they know has been touched by a form of lung disease. Participants choose from two climbing categories--full climb (94 floors) or half climb (52 floors).

Hustle Up the Hancock
begins at 7 a.m. Climbers take off in 8 second intervals creating staggered starts. There are two categories of the climb: the 94-floor climb and the 52 -floor CBS2 Half Climb. The 94-floor full climb and 52-floor CBS2 Half Climb will be held simultaneously in two separate stairwells. Half climbers start on floor 42 - both climbers end together in John Hancock Observatory on floor 94.

The Full Climb has a total of 1,632 steps. The amount of steps per floor varies throughout the building. The CBS2 Half Climb has 816 steps.

Yeah, Willis (Sears) tower and Hancock always sell out quicker because they are more known buildings. The floors are shorter though, and the AON is actually taller than the Hancock. Either way, they are all absolutely brutal. Maybe next year I'll get in on both of the other ones as well.

I did the oak brook terrace climb as well which is a 31 story building in the burbs. You gotta run up it 3 times though!!!
