step inside if you know anything about mac/linux networking

I'm applying for a resnet job here at school so I'll be supporting all the stupid computer users in the dorms basically. I'll be doing spyware removal, virus removal, network problems and just general stuff which is cake for me. The part that I'm clueless on is macs mainly with networking. I also would like to know a little bit about linux networking like the command for renewing the ip addy. I've used redhat and I'm assuming I'll never get a call to support a redhat desktop but I need to know for the interview process.

Macs, I haven't used them since back in the days of elementary/middle school. If anyone knows any cool tricks with networking, feel free to post away.
