Should I buy a racing wheel for driving simulations, or keep using my joystick? I'm played NFS:pU right now, and I think it would be fun with a wheel. Let me know what your experiences are with racing wheels on a PC.

i think tis useless in NFS, but if you get indy car legends, or those types of simulations, it is the difference between bad and good.

It's a different experience. You might like it and you might not, but most people do because it's closer to the real thing! It depends on your wheel too, if you get a really crappy one, you might not like it too much...

NFS (at least 3&4) didn't support them correctly. I used one for awhile, but my speeds weren't comparable to those who didn't use one. I stick to Joysticks for NFS games.

Nascar 4, on the otherhand, works very nicely. :) I highly recommend them. Especially for the anaolg gas/brake. :)

I've used one with about 3 or 4 different driving sims (Nascar, Grand Prix). I like it a heck of a lot better than the joystick, it's just more realistic.

A Wheel is so much better than a joystick. I used to use a stick to drive, but I got a Wingman Formula and my racing games haven't been the same since.

Much better experiene with a wheel and the better the wheel, the better the game.

Viper Racing is a pretty good game available very cheap now, $10-15.

I just love my Microsoft Sidewinder wheel. Go for a force feedback one, makes pc driving a whole new experience.

If you're serious about your driving sim a stering wheel is a must. Don't go buy the cheapest thing you can find. Thrustmaster makes good wheels also I've heard alot good about logitech and Microsoft wheels.
good luck

i think it depends on the game also, i got a mad catz 2 wheel for my dc. for games like vanishing point and crazy taxi it is just ok. i probably prefer the joystick to it. but it "sim" games like sega gt and especially ferarri 355 it's pure bliss. im blown away as to how real f355 feels with a wheel and pedals, it's just like driving a freakin car.

I have a friend who owns Nascar4 and plays it all the time, he swears by his racing wheel. I have tried it with the keyboard and with the racing wheel and there really is no contest. If you want to get really into the game, I totally suggest the wheel as it greatly enhances the fun-factor.

A wheel is a must for Nascar4. I can't play worth a sh!t on the keyboard.

IMO the wheel makes the driving sim/racing game more FUN. Totally worth it. Make sure you get a nice one, though.

LOL driving with a joystick. Fire some missiles or release some metal spikes with that?

NFS PU has arguably the best implementation of FF, a FF Wheel is highly recommended.
