Steering wheels (and seats)

I have decided that I need a steering wheel. I'm tired of playing fps and SimCity4.

The best mainstream wheel should be the Logitech MOMO, right?
Can it be used for both pc and ps2? I know the Logitech ps2 wheel can be used for pc. But I saw a picture in a car magazine showing a setup with a seat and television, and it shows the MOMO on the picture playing GT3 on a ps2. This setup cost $6250, and that is a little bit more than I was planning on spending.

Speaking of setups,
this is prized much more reasonably. So is there any guides on the net that show how to build something like this yourself? I have tried searching here and there, but to no avail.

It is my brother that is very keen on getting this sort of setup. A steering wheel is plenty for me.

TIA.

What racing games do you want to play? Do you want real race sims like NASCAR Racing Series? If so, you want to make sure the wheel and pedals set come with a stick for shifting and not just paddles. From what I see at the Papy forums, people love the MOMO wheels.

Good point, and I have thought about it. I think I could get by without a stick.

The MOMO doesn't have stick. But the MOMO Racing does, but it also has plastic where the MOMO has aluminium, and has a plastic wheel instead of the leather one on the MOMO.

What are these Papy forums? Got a link.

How many good racing sims are there? I guess F1 2002 is mandatory, you get both f1 (I hope its more fun to play than watching it on the telly, those races are booorrring) and the mods.

Then there is Grand Prix Legends, but I'm not really into old racing cars.
Don't know about Nascar though. I'm european, so Nascar doesn't turn me on. I think its those oval tracks.

The NASCAR racers had a heck of a race at Sears Point in California (road course) today. Circle track racing is harder than you think (I have an English friend who got NASCAR Racing Season 2003 and can now appreciate how hard it really is and he likes F1) and can be a blast. It allows for close racing unlike other forms (at least in RL.)

Thank you. I might have to try it out, I will download the demo.

Close racing is what we want. They had the DTM (Mercedes Benz, Alfa Romeo and Opel) series in Germany in the early 90's, and that has been the greatest racing I have ever seen. Unfortunately the series died, but I think it has come back under a different name. Unfortunately I can't get any tv channels that show it.

This may be slightly OT, but with just a few weeks ago at Pocono Raceway (2.5 mile tri-oval) there were at least 13 lead changes over the course of 500 miles. Short tracks have some real close racing with cars getting bent up pretty good and still finish the race.

Last year a couple of use were racing with NASCAR 2002 and had some really cool whiteknuckle races, specially at Daytona. Here are some links to pic of the races we have had online:
NASCAR 4 with some N2k2 thrown in.
Roll is a flash movie of me taking a long roll down the 1st and 2nd turns at Talledega. let the movie completely load then run again for full speed.
