Steering Wheel and Pedals for truck sims

I'm looking to pick up a nice set of steering wheels and pedals (with a shifter, clutch optional) for my truck sims. Most all of them are the 18 Wheels of Steel series, along with RignRoll, and a few others. All I really see is all these racing sets, which don't interest me. So any recommendations?

Thanks all 🙂!

Really isn't much variety. You might be able to find something specifically made for Trucking games, but it'll be expensive. Google would be a good place to look.

I've been doing a lot of googling without much luck. Most of the games are Russian/European made (softlab-nsk, SCS Software) where the following seems much larger. I'm going to dig around the TruckPol forums (a polish website for fans of truck sims) and see if I can find some good info there. But most of what I run into is in other languages that even Google Translator doesn't make too much sense of. But the search will continue! Just threw it up here cause maybe someone has support for these games too.

Good luck in your Search.

I played Euro Truck and German Truck Simulator. Pretty fun games, but I just used my Mouse/keyboard with them.

That's what I use, but it's tiring to the hands, inaccurate, and takes away from the experience. I used to have a wheel (of course it used the "gameport") back on my old win 98 computer for Hard Truck 1 and 2, along with Monster Truck Madness 1 and 2. It was just the way to go and really uped the fun level. That's what I want to get back into.

I've played Euro Truck, and I just got my copy of German Truck yesterday (so I can say I'm caught up and I own everything of the Hard Truck series again). I like them, but I have to say nothing beats 18WoS:American Long Haul for the sheer variety and maps. What I'd like to see is more work loads, so that instead of the richest loads, you got a large variety of hauls and experiences. Kind of like Extreme Trucker did. But Extreme Trucker was major fail because it only featured those limited routes and the driving mechanics were god awful. Love the updated graphics of german truck simualtor though, wish american long haul had visuals like that.

Now if some company came out with an online edition of them, with players from all around the world, I'd be in heaven. I'd pay to upgrade my internet connection, pay for a monthly subscription fee to the game, just to have an experience like that.

Multiplayer would probably end up trying to avoid some guy driving the wrong way in order to cause accidents. 😀

German Truck is a lot better than Euro IMO. It has a lot more Game elements to it that Euro didn't have. These are the only 2 Trucking games I have tried.

I have only gotten to the menu screen of German Truck Simulator, hope to get to try it tomorrow.

A quick look turned up this (Logitech G27 with a 6 speed shifter)

I think the Logitech unit should do the job for you. Most semi trucks are 10 or 15 speed usually a 5 speed trans with range selector levers. You might need to change ranges with your keyboard.

and this other site (but very expensive

Certainly nice wheels, but neither would really work in this case. I know the game doesn't support range changes (they are value publishers after all). Either the controller software would have to allow for ti, or it just needs to be a simple sequential shifter. I drive mostly 13 and 18 speed trucks with a few 6 and 8 speed on the side. The Logitech is just built too much to racing standards, as is the thomas wheel.

I use logitech g25 with a few truck sims. Just turn down the steering sensistivity a bit. That siad if you really want the experience of driving a truck. Call your local truck driving school and get a liscense. The enthuasiasm to drive trucks where offs the first time you sit in traffic for nearly a whole day with shit AC on the George Washington bridge south of NY becuase some idiot in a car decided to smash into a toll booth.

Or having to back into a loading dock in a crowded city like philly.

Yeahs its seems fun until you realize 80% of the scenery in america is corn, wheat or trees.

I still enjoy driving, I do courier after all. Yeah not as much as a truck driver, but still manage just over 20k miles a year. Trailering and package delivery. Just me and the girl in the truck with the latest music, it's quite enjoyable to us. I've already passed the class A knowledge test.

And yes chicago sucks with a 29ft trailer.

I picked up a Logitech Momo off of ebay. Brand new in box for 60$. It's awesome with the Hard truck games, calibrates well, and has more than enough buttons ect. The shifter paddles and sequential knob activate a very firm switch. The knob that tightens and loosens the wheel on the desk is easy to screw, though a bit small on its handhold, and makes moving it out of the way a breeze. Wiring, as is typical of all these, is a bit problematic with the serial cable coming from the pedals to the wheel, the usb form wheel to computer, and power wire from wall to wheel. Sadly this thing has a HUGE ass power brick and you'll have to go out of your way to make room for it anywhere.

Highly recommended wheel 🙂. Works out of the box with Windows 7 64 bit and Logitechs latest Game Panel software, even though the wheel hasn't been manufactured in years. Thumbs up to Logitech for excellent driver support.
