Good stuff, and I own all the old CDs plus Fagen's first solo CD, but I'd only put them in my top 50 favorite artists.

Costello can be similarly dark and literate, but is much more prolific. Joe Jackson is just as jazzy but deeper emotionally. Richard Thomspon has them beaten in the cynicism department, is more prolific, and is a better guitarist than Becker.
