Conclusion

If you have been on the market for a mouse pad that will last as long as you own a mouse, then the Steelpad is an excellent choice. I wouldn't have thought that a mouse pad can make such a difference. Everything I threw at the Steelpad worked flawlessly with pure smoothness.

I give the Steelpad 3S mouse pad a?

9/10! GAMERS GALORE! The Steelpad is a Gamers MUST! You have to use it to believe it!

"The Steelpad is so strong that if you dropped, it wouldn't break. Obviously I didn't try this, but I am 100% positive."

LOL!!! Who is this guy?!? I can drop my mousepad too and it won't break. :D

Anyway, I can't really give opinions on mousepads until I feel it for myself. I'm currently using a Func pad and I love it. ;p

True but the thing with normal pads is they bend and wear out pretty quick, being the SteelPad is made of 3mm & 5 mm aluminum plate that`s treated on the surface & hardened so gives it far longer life span.

Btw I think he was trying to compare the SteelPad to the Icemat which`s made of glass, you fancy dropping that ;).

I wish the review actually compared it to other gaming surfaces available. I just got my fUnc surface a few days ago. I really like it, but I would be willing to try another mousepad out if I can get some reasonably good comparison. I never realized how much of a difference the mousepad can make...

Exactly!... The mouse pad is so underrated,it can make a huge difference,I know a lot of people that just use their desktop but no way is it better then a good quality mouse pad like Ratzpad,Everglide,SteelPad models. Also if you`re spending good money on a quality mouse it makes sense to use a good surface ie quality mouse pad with it.

The Teflon tape is included to put on the four corners of your optical mouse. It provides the smoothest possible surface for your mouse on the Steelpad. Remember to put it on, if you don't, you will hear a loud sound when moving your mouse. Besides, it's included in the package.

WTF! You HAVE to put those on. I don't have to do that with my Ratpadz. What if the tape wears out?

I know the Icemat comes with some tape for your mouse(called Pad Surfers )

,even Everglide sells them ,they`re called "Mouse Skatez".There`re optional on most mouse pads,I guess with the SteelPad it`s recommended you use them unless your mouse already has teflon feet.
Being teflon should last quite awhile and it`s easy to buy more especially at only around $3 or so.

Doesn't sound like anything better than my fUnc pad which is a hard plastic and soft rubber base, not to mention a very smooth side and a rough side.

Ummm....my mouse pad is at least 5 years old and shows no signs of wearing out (and I use it A LOT). As for normal mousepads bending, I don't see why that would be a problem unless you were trying to destroy it and you kept bending it over and over again. Maybe good mousepads are underrated, but saying that normal mousepads wear out pretty quick seems inacurate to me.

I should of been more accurate, what I meant was in heavy gaming use etc the plastic type don`t seem to last more then 2 years before the plastic surface starts showing wear and tear, the Icemat and SteelPad have a much better harder wearing surface so you`ll looking at 10 years plus, like all things it depends on your mouse usage in general.

I don't understand how any of these pads can be sold for more than 10 dollars. Soo expensive for a piece of plastic/rubber, whatever the hell it's made of!

Although I agree (I personally just use mousepads I've gotten for free), the mousepad in question here is actually made out of aluminum. Thats probably why they want so much for it.

And I believe the Icemat is made of solid glass....

:)

My Giganta was only $8...I think it was well worth it..

I've been using the Everglide Giganta for over 2 years and it shows no sign of wear at all. I was using felt pads on the bottom of my mouse before the mouse finally wore out. Got a new mouse and it has teflon pads on it already. The teflon really does make the mouse slide easier. I'd like to know where to get some teflon tape. Do they sell that at the local hardware store? I got the felt pads at office max.

Also, you should take care of your mouse pad by treating it with armor all every so often. ( Makes it slipperier too. ) :)

Mine is showing wear and tear after 6 months :( ,that`s why I`m thinking of changing it ,I`m a heavy gamer. I`ll say it has been an excellent gaming mouse pad.

Mine is the normal Giganta Black version.

You know it has fine bumps on the surface, well
towards the left side where my mouse normally is, part of the surface has worn away through wear and tear,I` ve like no bumps at all,it`s shiny .When I pick up the mouse and move it to the otherside I can feel the difference on the surface,I did read that the Latest Everglide Giganta pads don`t seem to last as long as the older ones.

That`s why I`m thinking of trying the SteelPad or Icemat.

Mem, I have the Icemat, Gamepc.com Ratpad, Logitech Wingman mousepad and various 3m thinpads. The Icemat by far is the best out of the previous mentioned. But i use a RazerBoomslang 1k and 2k on the icemat with no skates. It's the most accurate out of the list above. I'm looking forward to the Black Icemat but it is never in stock. I want the Aluminum mousemat from Frozencpu.com as well. The Logitech Dual optical is one of my many backup mice and i've been dying to use it on a surface better than basic wooded desktop or RP. Icemat isn't compatibie unless it is the Black version.

For those of you who scoff at the price of the mousemats mentioned in the thread, you're aren't a gamer so you wouldn't be able to relate to a gamers reasoning behind purchasing these form of products.
