Hello ATPN
During the last weeks I followed the discussions here rather quietly because I'm really busy. I'd like to write tons of things about the riots in France and other topics but the work for my uni is killing me...
Among other things I'm writing a paper about the steel trade conflicts and the American tolls on steel imports during 2002 and 2003. Although I'm somewhat familiar with the mechanics of American politics I think I'm missing some aspects, especially at the beginning of the toll discussion. Could you please name some persons (be it congresmen or lobbyists) whose support was decisive for the implementation?
We're also discussing the possibility that some members of congres/senate (nearly) always act in favor of international contracts or of national interests - short term or not. So to speak, we're searching for a group of internationalists respectively isolationists who's guided by their ideological belief rather than by the actual situation and topic (steel industry in my case). Do you think this question is worth further research or not?
Don't get me wrong, I don't want you guys to do my work, I'm just fishing for some hints and advises. Thanks in advance for any inputs.
