Has anyone notice Steam's download speeds being a little sporadic at times or is it my connection ?

I've noticed over the years that certain games are spotty, looking at you Ark. It would download a tiny fragment then hammer the disk and then go back to downloading another tiny fragment. But overall? Nothing, just downloaded a 20gb Vermintide 2 patch without issues at my max speed.

That is exactly what I am talking about!

Yes indeed, I experienced similar when I was downloading Black Ops 3. My internet connection was 2MB but my download speed boosted to more than 500kb and helped me download the game within the span of some hours.

To realize that it's just your connection go take a speedtest and then run the download and you'll realize that it's simply due to the fact that sometimes your family or roommates are watching a youtube video or checking facebook or start a movie on netflix. Connection varies based on everything in the room, everything inbetween your pc and the router and many more variables. Typically steam has nothing to do with it unless say your downloading a game on Christmas day.
