I played the original version, Escape from Butcher Bay and I loved it. It was really fun and this is a more expanded version with some new levels so I'm sure it's just as good but I won't buy it since everywhere I read if you played the first no real reason to play this one. That and the retarded 3 install limit so I won't get it.

What the deal with the TAGES DRM?

I understand the activation limit and how they are returned after 30 days, but is TAGES really that bad?

I am avoiding this game due to having a run in with Tages on Steam in the Risen deal. You have X amount of machine activations. And that is it. If you get the disc version, you get renewed machine activations. On Steam you dont. And that is quite annoying.

You sure about that? This was taken directly from the Steam page:

Notice: After activating the third time your product using TAGES a 30-day timer starts. After 30 days you will get that activation back up to 3 total activations.

It doesn't matter I refuse to buy any game with that kind of DRM. I did once, BioShock and swore to never again. Luckily they removed the limit but still I was very angry when I found out. At least that game was well worth the money! Still haven't finished playing it yet totally. Need to see what happens in the beginning after my cousin most of that part. I love the Big Daddy!

You need to install more than 3 times within 30 days? And won't buy a $5 game because of that? Really?

Yes, because true gamers would rather devoid themselves of quality gaming at extremely affordable prices than deal with a DRM that keep them from installing the game 3 times per month, which may or may not contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer. My utmost respect to these gamers.

I've never heard of Chronicles of Riddick until just now, so I decided to buy this. My verdict: Totally worth it. I've started to play Escape from Butcher Bay (because it came first), and it's simply fantastic. How did I not hear about this game back in 2004? Apparently while it was one of the best games of the year, it was still overshadowed by other titles like Half Life 2, Far Cry, UT'04, and WoW. 2004 was a very good year for PC gaming.

Escape from Butcher Bay is one of those games where EVERYTHING feels satisfying. Stealth, melee, gunplay - they're all awesome. Same goes with the dialog and voice acting.

And for the record, TAGES isn't that bad.

Sometimes I think you guys go overboard on this anti-DRM thing.

You get 3 activations every 30 days. What more do you need? It's clearly designed to stop the key getting out in the public and 30,000 people using the same key.
