I liked it plenty despite it's quirks, but you MUST use a controller. My main complaint is there isn't a real visceral feel to wielding a lightsaber. When you hit a storm trooper three times with it and he comes back for more, you're like, what, is this thing a flashlight? But when you get those combos streaming you'll feel pretty badass. Oh, and have fun with the star destroyer level. ugh.

My biggest problem was you couldnt use force powers and move at the same time. I wanted to force grab people and spin them around and watch them grab for things like in the pre release videos, but they must have been using god mode because you'd get shot and die. If you could strafe you could at least line up shots while taking minimal damage. Anyways, never got past the demo.

I'll sit and wait on this one. I'd love me a good Sith game, but if I have to use a controller for a PC game, I might as well go out and get a 360/PS3.

I heard it suffers heavy from consoleitis so I skipped it on the pc.

The tech demos for this game were amazing, but from what I hear, the game itself is lackluster and consolized. Not to mention the story is completely whack and considered canon.

Rented it on the 360. The game is kind of fun for the first few levels, but it's incredibly shallow in terms of both gameplay and story. So the game gets boring after you slay the millionth stormtrooper / local alien lifeform with your fancy new spinning lightsaber move.

I though the junk planet level was a cool concept.

I don't know what the SE adds, but I'm not sure I'd suggest it to anyone but the most hardcore of Star Wars geeks even at only $15.

I am probably one of the hardcore of the hardcore Star Wars geeks and I steer clear of SW games like the plague. Generally, because they are bad.

Yeah, but with each new game I keep hoping they get it right. I wish they'd just make a space sim game with the vastness and openess of X3 but set in Star Wars.

Word. Only good ones I can remember are X-Wing, Tie Fighter, XvT, and the original Dark Forces.

Hmm.. Was that really all? Am I forgetting any?

Jedi Acadmey was really good as well, and the KOTOR series was not bad. But yeah, there are not many decent Star Wars games. And that makes me a sad panda.

No problems playing this game using keyboard/mouse - not sure why people think you need a controller...

I'm a star wars fan and I enjoyed the game - it's very linear but it was a lot of fun - worth the $15.00

Tempting for 14.99, but probably will pass on it. Too much of a consolized fighting game for me. I am not good at those type of games.

BTW, how could they make this game and never make another Battlefront or KOTOR game??? (Yea, I know about The Old Republic, but it is an MMO, it does not count.)

They were making a new Battlefront game. It was supposed to have this amazing land to space fights available seemless in engine. But, then it was dropped and another company took it over. Not sure what happened, but I know the original company took their engine with them.

That's right smackababy and zinfamous - KOTOR was pretty good. It was less grim than I'd like (seemed a little like a made-for-teens book), but fun.

Come to think of it, Republic Commando was surprisingly decent, though it could've used more polish.

I like the Republic Commando demo that came with KOTOR2, but never got around to getting the actual game.

It really wasn't bad... Not a brilliant shooter, not a brilliant SW game... but it was surprisingly decent. If you see it for $20 or so on Steam, I'd say it's worth it.

Don't think you'll ever get the urge to replay it, however.

Yea, I played through Republic Commando with my grandson who was about 10 or 11 at the time. I forgot about that game, but it was pretty good. I was kind of hoping they would make a sequel to that game also but they never did.

KOTOR 1 is one of my favorite games ever. I dont really know why you wanted it to be more "grim". If you are talking about the light side ending being kind of a cliche, I can see your point, but look at the first 3 movies. The Empire Strikes Back had a kind of dark story, but Star Wars and The Return of the Jedi both had good triumphant over evil endings. So I think the light side ending of KOTOR is kind of true to the movies.
If you are talking about more explicit violence, blood and language, that is OK if that is what you like in a game, but I liked the game fine without it.

You guys also forgot the rts Empire at War which wasn't bad at all either. There have been MANY good Star Wars games.

I concur, I play Empire at War (and its expansion pack, Forces of Corruption) occasionally, it's really fun, especially the space battles that can end up being quite epic, especially with mods. Also I really liked Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns, with surprisingly good campaigns as well (running on a modified AoE II engine). I also really liked Shadows of the Empire (on the N64, but there is a PC version), on the Jedi difficulty it was one of the most challenging game on the N64 that I can recall.

Yeah, i was going to ask about that one. Forgot the name, but remember it looking pretty good when it came out. Never got around to trying it, though.

I still have Galactic Battlegrounds....but it wasn't anything new, truly unique in the RTS world. basically AoE with Star Wars skin. meh.

oh. and Shadows WAS really, really good.

but who can forget the Star Wars/Empire/RotJ 2D side scrollers for SNES. those were freaking fun!

I miss classic side scrollers :(
