Steam Weekend Deal: Blood Bowl 75% off

Blood Bowl is $10 this weekend, 75% off normal price.

I never played it but have heard good things about it. It certainly looks entertaining.
I like turnbase games and it has been awhile since I've played one and the theme of football just seems to outrageously wtf that it draws me in somehow.
Anyone that has played it have anything to say about it?

I read reviews and it seems like it's a weird kind of american football of some sort. Doesn't seem interesting to me.

Especially in the beginning of the introduction article linked there (they explain the game much better than I can), but those diaries are fun reads.

Keep in mind that in the coming months, they're releasing a new version of BloodBowl that (as I understand it), will make the previous version totally obsolete. I don't think they'll even be compatible in multiplayer.

I used to play the tabletop version of this game, never tried the digital version, for $10 I may give it a whirl.

It is very loosely based on American football. It's more like an alteration on combat strategy using Tolkien style characters and you just happen to be trying to run a ball to one side or the other.

It's turn based tactical game. It's more a spoof of football than a sports game. It's a really great boardgame, that's been around for a couple of decades.

Gogamer has had it cheap for awhile now.

The new version is suppose to come out before the end of the year. Legendary Edition is going to include everything from the previous edition plus twice as many teams, more stadiums, the latest rules, and make the PC rules more accurate to the boardgame.
