Steam: Unable to play TF2 due to...

Has anyone had this problem when attempting to play TF2? It took me 1/2 hour yesterday before I could log in and get my ass handed to me. I shouldn't have to wait that long to be yelled at by my team mates! 🙂

Seriously, do you have to wait to play due to Steam being full?

I think he means he couldn't even log on to steam, not a TF2 server.

ok, ok...everyone settle. Let me rephrase; I log into Steam, go to play TF2, but Steam won't let me in to the game. I know there are more than one server in TF2, and no, this isn't my first time playing an online game.

What do you mean "steam won't let me in the game"?

I've been having a lot of trouble finding populated servers that have a decent ping lately. Either my ISP has TANKED or there's something interfering with my ability to see more servers (yes with ping filter.)

check to make sure hl2.exe isn't running in task manager. it could be that, while you quit portal, HL2, or TF2 previously, HL2.exe is still running. i encountered this problem before.

Remove the ping filter, sometimes the latency is all screwed up. I can have a server that looks like a latency of 500 and then I look at the server info and the ping is less than 200.
